You begin shaping the organisational culture right from day one. That's why at BLOS you dive straight into a warm bath. Two weeks before your official start, BLOS extends an invitation to participate in a pre-boarding programme on the learning platform BLOX. This programme equips you with the necessary tools for a well-prepared entry into your role.

Following the onboarding process after your official start, you gain access to 'the campus’. This provides you with opportunities to engage in learning activities and enhance your knowledge, covering areas such as the New Pedagogical Policy.

Your personal learning journey

In response to the changing view of childcare and the increasing workload in the sector, BLOS has been actively working to improve its culture. Employees are not only encouraged but also empowered to chart their own learning journeys. These journeys unfold through a dynamic mix of training, concise learning interventions, engaging podcasts and interactive games.

While the traditional path to positions like site or regional manager remains open, the focus is now on creating diverse learning journeys. The key question here is: how do you make learning as engaging and interactive as possible so that employees have plenty of opportunities to keep developing?

The experiences of a new BLOS employee 

Femke Duffhues, a pedagogical assistant by training, quickly found her place at BLOS. Thanks in part to the welcoming atmosphere of the BLOX learning platform. This platform not only embodies the essence of BLOS but also enhances Femke's sense of belonging.

Additionally, BLOX provides the flexibility for Femke to review information at her own pace and in her preferred location. This convenience aligns seamlessly with her demanding role in the group.

BLOS has come a long way since its start in 1992 as a passionate after-school childcare center. Over the years, it has grown into a vast network of locations, offering diverse childcare services. Today, BLOS kinderopvang is proudly one of the top 10 childcare organisations in the Netherlands. And since 2021, it’s part of the Babilou Family, ranking as the fifth-largest childcare organisation globally.

What about the future?

With BLOX, BLOS has laid a solid foundation for a future-proof learning platform. But there’s always room to grow! L&D Specialist Liesbeth Buddingh van Binsbergen is already exploring how to take things further:

"I’m asking questions like: How do employees experience these modules, and can they be more concise? Could we use BLOX to attract new colleagues? And how do we help employees see their growth potential within the organisation? I’m looking at how we can design learning journeys that empower our people to take charge of their own development."
